Fall in Edinburgh

I have been dreaming of returning to Edinburgh ever since I left. Although I have only been to Edinburgh, Scotland in the fall I cant help but feel FALL is the time of year Edinburgh is meant to be experienced!! The historic architecture and landscape comes to life under the fall weather!

I went to Edinburgh as a side journey during a European painting trip. I filled my three days with miles ands miles of walking and photography. I stopped at a few museums and returned to my favorite spots to sketch! Greyfriars Kirkyard cemetery was a must see! A traditional favorite spot of Edinburgh tourism for good reason. When I went there it was charming and peaceful. I did some sketching as well as identified the famous gravestones. It feels like stepping back in time and gives view to some beautiful architecture as well!

FAVORITE PARTS OF EDINBURGH

The streets of Edinburgh were full of people and events that highlighted the Scottish culture; including men playing bagpipes and this beautiful owl! Best experienced by walking through old town and down the Royal Mile.

THE STREETS AT NIGHT

I felt perfectly safe walking the historic part of the city at dusk and the glow of the windows made everything come to life in a new way.

I spent several hours wandering the various paths of the Royal Botanical Gardens. A beautiful creation of natural looking pathways featuring different themes throughout the gardens. link: https://www.rbge.org.uk/

CIRCUS LANE

A little quaint street recommended to me by a a writer who lived in Edinburgh for a year. I was lucky to capture this photograph of someone walking their dogs.

VICTORIA STREET (Diagon Alley)

Curving upward in an arch this street is full of tall little shops and is siad to have inspired Diagon Alley for the Harry Potter fans.
